This customer in Penrhyn Bay wanted to create a balcony area to step out directly from their newly built extension in to the garden.
This use of raised decking is a fantastic way to extend living space and creates a very open feel. It makes for a great area for entertaining, dining outside or relaxing with a good book and a glass of vino.
The raised decking needed to comply with building regulations, and the customer provided an engineer drawing in order to quote for the project.
The first step was to dig down to the required depth for 6 posts which were then infilled with concrete and topped with a galvanised 'shoe', to which we attached building grade posts.
The posts were used to build the deck from and had to be long enough to hold the glass in place for the finished product.
Building grade timber was used to create the framework, as per the engineer drawings, and then the decking was finished with deck boards across the top.
Steps were built at the side of the deck for access, balustrades installed to the correct height to comply with building regs - and finally toughened glass was fitted to the posts.
Ideal for the warmer months when it really does 'bring the outside inside!'
